Elon Musk Welcomes Luhut At Tesla Factory. Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan during his working visit to the United States (US) finally met directly with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Luhut’s meeting with Elon Musk was accompanied by the Chairman of the Advisory Council of Kadin who is also the President Director of PT. Bakrie & Brothers Tbk, Anindya Bakrie.

Then, Luhut’s Special Staff, who was formerly the CEO of Bukalapak, Rachmat Kaimuddin, and the Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, Roesan Roeslani, accompanied Luhut.
This was known through Instagram posts by Rachmat Kaimuddin and Anindya Bakrie.
So what did Luhut discuss there?
Spokesman for Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Jodi Mahardi said the discussion was none other than nickel and electric batteries which Tesla had recently discussed with the Indonesian government.
After 2 years previously the investment negotiations failed or did not comply with the agreement requested by the Government of Indonesia.
“The conversation revolved around nickel processing and electric vehicle batteries. An invitation from Elon Musk to invite Mr. Predsident, Joko Widodo to meet at the Space X Facility in Texas, and mention a little about Star Link,” said Jodi to Kompas.com , Tuesday (26/4/ 2022).
Jodi added that the planned presence of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to tour the facilities in Space X was still in the scheduling process. “It just depends on the President’s willingness and schedule,” he said.

Tesla factory tour
Meanwhile, through Anindya Bakrie’s Instagram post, Luhut and the accompanying entourage were invited directly by Elon Musk to tour the atmosphere of his company Tesla Inc.
Elon Musk was seen wearing a black casual t-shirt when welcoming the representatives of the Indonesian Government.
“We also got a rare tour inside the Tesla car and battery factory. It’s amazing, the supply chain arrangement is effective and neat at the Tesla factory,” Anindya said in a statement.
In line with Luhut’s spokesman, Anindya Bakrie also explained the reason for their meeting with Elon Musk.
“Our goal is to convince Tesla to explore cooperation with Indonesia regarding the supply and processing of nickel as a raw material for making battery cells based on good and sustainable ESG (Environment, Social and Governance),” explained Anindya.

In addition, Elon Musk would like to be invited to attend the International Advisory Caucus B20 event.
“On this auspicious occasion, we also present the G20/B20 program, including inviting him to join the International Advisory Caucus B20 and attend the B20 event in mid-November,” said Anindya.
